I have a new project to share with you today which started off as a red heart ornament i bought from a charity shop for £1.50 I was rummaging for old stuff that could be covered in decoupage sheets. A lot of the embellishments are from the Artful Days October goodie box and i mixed a few mdf cogs in to bulk it up a bit. I was inspired by the resin face and as i was gluing the cogs to it i started to think it looked a bit like one of those AI's from the Scifi films hence why i called the piece Ghost in the Machine.
I coated the heart in DecoArt White Gesso and let it dry. I then added cogs to the background using a stencil and modelling paste. I then painted the whole thing in DecoArt Americana Metallic Antique Bronze paint and dry brushed a bit of Black Pearl Dazzling Metallics.
The wooden cog pieces where coated in black gesso and then painted over with Black Pearl Dazzling Metallics. I then dry brushed it over with Bronze Dazzling Metallics.
The cogs are layered up and glued together into a cluster and i added the metal charms around the clusters.
This effect was created by painting the face with Black Pearl Dazzling Metallics and then dry brushing the Bronze Dazzling Metallics over the top
Gorgeous project Katie, I love the rusty patina and dimension! X
