IKE's Art DT Girl Power Week Using The Suffragette Image

I am super excited to announce that i am on IKE's team and my first make follows the Girl Power theme as it is breast cancer awareness month. So while there are no Spice Girls in sight today i choose to use the Suffragette image. If you didn't learn about them in school they was a group of women who fought for the right for women to vote.

Did you know that Victorian women never wore pink? In fact it was the opposite way around with Victorian children. The boys wore pale pink and girls wore blue. This was because Victorian children would wear the same colors as the adults but a much paler shade. In the Victorian era men wore red and women wore blue as red was a strong masculine shade and blue was considered feminine and delicate. I colored in the image with First Edition alcohol markers. The Victorians didn't wear a lot of bright colors so i went with browns.

I used the Kori Kumi die set to create the flowers. I added half of one patterned paper to the top of the card and another on the bottom half. I then added another color over the middle.
