Colourcraft Guest Designer:The Rock Pool Mixed Media Plaque

Hello all

I am guest designer for Colourcraft this month and I wanted to create something that reminded me of the sea so i created  this  rock pool themed plaque.  I kept the focus around the edges of the project so it looked like it was clinging to a rock.

I used

Crackle Paste
Clay
Silicone Moulds
Moss
MDF Plaque
Seed Beads
Pearls

Start off by covering the plaque with crackle paste and leaving it to set.
Then paint over with blue paint and let that dry before adding a light layer of  Metallic Luster.

Glue net to the base, i used fruit packaging as it happened to be the right colour!!.
I used paper clay with a mould to create the sea urchin and shells, which i then painted with Eco paint and then dry brushed on a layer of the metallic paint. I placed everything into position first before gluing it down so once i was happy with it i added the moss and then glued down the chunky bits.

I then added the smaller bits like beads and art balls around the focal points. The last layer is a sprinkle of micro beads and art sand.

Colourcraft Making Christmas Tree Decorations With Lutradur

Hello Crafty  friends

I have discovered a new material to play with called Lutradur. You can cut it, ink it, paint it and melt it.

I used nesting dies to cut out the basic shapes and I cut one from Lutradur. I then glued ribbon on the back of the felt shape. I then painted the Lutradur with the Aztec Metallic Lustre paints and once dry I stitched the two parts together. Leave a gap for the stuffing.

The heart I painted in gold and I stitched it onto brown felt. I melted the edges a bit to give it a worn look. I cut out two smaller hearts and painted one with white pearl and one with copper Aztec Eco
Metallic Lustre. I then added lace trim across the centre of the pearl white heart and used a strong glue to hold the layers together. I finished it off by adding a small heart and a cabochon to the centre.

The star was painted in blue and once dry i glued lace acrosd it. I then cut a strip of Lutradur, painted it and then melted it with a heat gun. I finished off the decoration with a cabachon and frosted berries.

The baulble was painted with copper
Aztec Eco Metalic Lustre and then i cut out a smaller circle from burlap and glued this to the centre and added a ribbon bow. I finished off with a large button and a large flat back gem in the centre.

How To Create A Fabulous Art journal Page With Brushos

Hello crafty friends

I have my first project as part of the Colourcraft design team to share. I used Brusho powders to create this amazing art journal page.

1) Spritz water into the top and bottom corners of the page and sprinkle over with Leaf Green and Emerald Green Brusho powders.

2)  Apply modeling paste using a few stencils

3)  Roughly cut up two strips of wall tape and paint with gesso before painting over with green paint.

4)  Take a paper towel and a dry baby wipe and dye with Leaf Green Brusho powder.

5)  Use a heart shaped die cut and cut out hearts from the baby wipe and paper towel

6) Glue the hearts into position with the two largest ones layered on top of each other.

7)  Adhere a strip of washi tape and wall tape down the centre of the large heart.

8) Glue black thread into the centre of the large heart and then go over the top with a stencil mask.

9) Dry Brush Aztec Green Lustre Paint over the embossed areas

10) Use a label maker to create the journal quote

How To Create Grungy Textures Using Aztec Eco Metallic Lustre

Hello all

Today i am going to show you how to create the grungy textures you have been seeing on some of my projects.

I used the Aztec Metallic Lustre paints with wall tape which you can pick up in any DIY store.

Place the tape onto a non stick surface and put a blob of your chosen colour over the top.

Next just cover the whole section of tape with the paint and leave it to dry. It will take a few hours and it can be sped up by using a heat tool.

Once dry you can carefully peel off the tape and cut it up ready to be used on you projects.
