Here is my entry for the Ken Oliver Crafts June challenge which you can join here http://www.kensworldinprogress.com/. The challenge ends on the 12th July and the theme is Vacation.
I like to keep a vacation journal when i am on holiday, A place to jot down a few words and store all the bits and pieces you collect over the week. Mine is like a little scrapbook as i have a Polaroid Pogo which is a mini printer that lets you print off tiny 2x3 photos off your camera.
I used the MDF Tab Journal from Things to Alter as the substrate . I painted it with DecoArt Media White Gesso and then with White Crackle Paint. Once dry i applied a thick layer of modeling paste over the cover using the cogs stencil. I then spritzed it all with water and went to town with the Color Burst Inks starting with flicks of Turquoise, Sepia and then drops of Copper Liquid Metals to create a rusty look.
The next layer was created by painting the Geoclusters Mixed Shapes Stencil with gesso and then crackle paint. Cut it into smaller pieces and glue to the cover before spritzing with water and covering with another layer of Color Burst Inks.
/I didn't want the cover to be too bulky as it is something that is designed to be carried around.
I love the way the Color Burst Inks have stained the modeling paste to create a strong vibrant color that really brings the detail out.
Thank you for visiting
