DecoArt Blogger Outreach with Blank Page Muse Stamps

Hello all

It's has been a while since i blogged and to be honest i did plan to focus mainly on Instagram but the last 10 months of my life have been crazy starting with changes to my work hours and location, which are back to normal now but i am struggling to get back into things. Any way i have been mainly art journaling because i have had to give up half my craft room for our online business so i have no room for the chunky projects anymore. I did have a good clear out which has helped but i am still finding stuff lol. 

So here is my latest art journal. I started by stamping the background stamps on first and then adding the DecoArt mist sprays. The Blank Page Muse has all these new stamps which are great for us mixed media people. I will add the links at the bottom for you to take a look.

I hope everyone is ok today? The world is in absolute chaos and the only thing we can do is stay indoors and create.

Bleeding Art Challenge Radley The Nuclear Apocalyptic Bear

Hello all

I am back with my latest victim, A bear i found at a charity shop which has become a cross between the Hulk and something off  Mad Max. I've named him Radley because he maybe radioactive but don't worry he doesn't bite.

Burlap or any garden sack

A teddy bear 

Start off by soaking the bear in Leaf Green Brusho Powder. I would wear gloves for this as you will stain your hands and everything else in green ink. Drain the water out of the bear and then mix the fluid acrylics with water and slosh it on. i used a lighter colour on the paws and muzzle.

Dry out the bear completely by hanging it outside for the neighbours to see, It will keep the curtain twitchers entertained while you prepare the clothes.

Just chop off a strip of burlap and wrap it around the bear, use the split pins to hold it on so you don't have to sew anything.

Take some burlap ribbon of any trim in a dull brown tone, and wrap it around the shoulders and bottom of the bear. Again hold the straps together with split pins.

To make the body armour take two large metal charms and coat with Black Gesso. When this has dried just rub on the metallic lustre.

 Paint up a small face and glue it on. 

Thread twine through the charms and tie them on or use glue, lots of glue!!

Finish off by adding random metal charms to the bear.

StencilGirl Guest Designer Mermaid Art Journal

Hello all

I am guest designer for StencilGirl and today i have a mixed media art journal layout using a few of the new stencils.

Acrylic paints

Start off by dabbing two tones of blue acrylic paint on to a blank journal. i use a make up sponge for a smoother finish. 

Next take a texture background stamp and stamp it in navy blue along the center of the pages. Take a few smaller ones and stamp those around the pages.

Use a makeup sponge to dab paint through the stencils and leave to fully dry. Then place the stencil back over the image and draw around the outline of the stencil with a fine black pen.

Craft Consortium Steampunk Gentleman Card

Hello all

I have been playing with the new Metal Effects paper pad by Craft Consortium. It is part of the new collection of The Essential Craft Papers range being launched this month.

1. Cover 5 x 7 card with paper
2. Cut out a 6 x 4 piece of plain card and paint with red acrylic paint
3. Once dry tear the edges and glue to card
4. Add a stencil and texture stamps
5. Cut out the ephemera and layer the pieces up on the card.
6. Die cut a few cogs and other pieces, then layer those over each other
7. Add red thread over the center of the card.
8. Cut out one of the old photos and adhere it to card using 3d foam pads
9. Decorate with embellishments.

Hellgnome's Death Digis Great Space Adventure Art Journal

Hello all

I have a new mixed media art journal layout to share with you. I have gone for a space theme so three guess which Sci Fi movie this is a nod too.

The background is painted black first and then i blended in blue tones. Then i added a bit of magenta to the edges to make it look a bit more like space. I then added SprinkleIt to the center of the pages, this stuff is great as it adds a crunchy texture and it shimmers. I finished off the background by flicking white paint over the top so it looks like stars.

The images have been coloured in with marker pens.

I have started doing altered postcards and here i one of my first attempts using products from Artful Days.

Cover postcard in gesso

Use a stencil with texture paste on base.

Paint with Lindy's Magical Time Travel Teal.

Paint on  Lindy's Magical Lederhosen Laurel

Stamp on the Prima stamps.

Paint the mdf net with heavy gel medium and sprinkle with embossing powder. Heat it to set the powder and glue to card.

Add a bit of natural Finland Moss.

Paint the resin octopus with the texture paste and leave to dry. 

Next dry brush a bit of metallic paint over the octopus and add to net. 

Finish by painting the journey word with texture paste and then add small shells.

Bleeding Art Challenge Show Us The Love

Hello all

i am back with my entry for the February challenge over at The Bleeding art challenge.

The cube was covered in tissue paper and then a stencil was used over the top. The whole thing was then painted using DecoArt Fluid Acrylic in Magenta.

The Hearts were stamped onto card and then stamped over with a texture stamp before being coloured in with water paints.

I like to use small alphabet beads to add words to mixed media projects.
I added Art balls around the top and painted up a small wooden house which i stamped on.
I then stamped out the large hearts doing two of each so i could sandwich the copper wire into the center. 
You need plenty of strong glue to hold the hearts up.
I then sprinkled on loads of pearls.

Artful Days Mixed Media Heart Canvas

Hello all

I have a new mixed media canvas to share with you today. It's coming upto Valentine's Day so it will be hearts all the way until the 14th.  So here is my project for Artful Days.

1. Paint the heart with gesso
2. Apply Crackle Paste with a spatula and leave to set.
3. Add the md shapes and paint them with Texture Sand Paste
4. Glue on pebbles, art sand and art balls. (I used white aquarium gravel)
5. Glue on a large heart, add a word to the centre and then glue on a resun cupid.
6. Spritz with Red ink.
7. Paint everything in Polished Coral Metallic Luster Wax.
8. Dry drush light pink acrylic paint over the textured areas

Hi all

I have a set of artist trading cards to share, made using digital stamps by Hellgnome's Death Digis.

I used the Skullerfly stamp.

1. Stamp texture stamps onto atc blanks
2. Apply a stencil mask
3. Add Yellow, red and orange inks
4. Stamp over the top with more texture stamps
5. Print Skullerflies and colour in with inks
6. Stamp out words on to card and cut them to fit ATCS.
