DecoArt Blogger Outreach Program: Things to Alter Coffin Boxes

Hello Craft Friends

Today I am continuing the Halloween theme with these delightfully haunting coffins. Here is the finished project and below i will go through how i got the wreathed wood effect.

These are the coffin boxes from Things to Alter which you can find here.http://thingstoalter.co.uk/products/3d-coffin-with-lid-mdf. They are great for putting little gifts inside or maybe a skeleton.

I used the large rosette die by Tim Holtz and added a little mdf spider on top.

I used a skull bead and added flowers

This one was stained with red DecoArt Media Mister and spritzed with water which i let drip down the lid. Looks like blood doesn't it.

To create this weathered wood look, I first coated the coffins in Black Gesso and then once dried i added Weathered Wood Crackle Medium.

Next add a thick layer of White Crackle paste and leave to dry. Once dry you get a deep crackle that will flake off if it isn't sealed.

To get the faded mahogany look, i used DecoArt Antiquing cream and painted on the English Red Oxide around the edges. I then used a wet brush and spritzed water onto the cream to turn it into a wash and just painted it over the whole coffin. I repeated this step with Raw Umber to get a dirty brown color.

I lined the coffins with red material so it looks like a Vampire Coffin.

Delicious Doodles May Challenge April Showers Bring May Flowers and DT Call !!

My dark side is back after going missing for a few months so i am back with a new card for the Delicious Doodles DT. This month the theme is to use Flowers so i did sort of.  You can join us here at http://deliciousdoodleschallenge2.blogspot.co.uk/

Would you like to join our team? We have a DT call on right now so pop over to the blog for the details.

I used the digital papers from the Curiosity Shop Kit by Gecko Galz and then stamped a few ink drops in Fire Brick Red using the Crafters Companion Journal Jotters Stamp Set.

The digi image i used is called The Ram Tattoo Colouring page but it can be re-sized to be used as a topper

I tied a bow in black ribbon and then glued a huge skull charm to it. I am surprised that the card could still stand up. Check out Lellibot crafts for some Gothic charm packs.

I felt compelled to add a spider sequin, I don't know why.

Thank you for visiting

A Step in the Dark August Challenge

Hi all
I am back with my project for A Step in the Dark Challenge group. Our sponsor this month is Stitchy bear http://stitchybearstamps.com/shop/index.php?main_page=index. To have a chance at winning all you have to do is create a project that is on the Dark side and post it into the album in the Facebook group.

For my next project i have gone a bit goth and made this Gothic wedding card where the vows death do us apart have been taken literally. you can but this stamp here http://stitchybearstamps.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=13_109&products_id=2921

Here is a close up of the stamp which was coloured using pencils.
