Final Docrafts PDT project

Hi all 

I have another page to share from my Geometric Neon smashbook. It is my final project for the Docrafts PDT as i found out yesterday that i was not successful in joining the team for another year but two of my teamies made it so not all bad. I don't know what the future will hold from this point on but I am fortunate to be on the Trimcraft Team and it is going to be a busy year full of new releases. I will be doing more mixed media with Things to Alter and hopefully Susan K Weckesser's team. The craft industry is forever changing and nothing is written in stone so maybe a new door will open in the future.

Sometimes less is more and with the mini books its best not to overcrowd

I used the little stickers to write short notes on which is great if journaling isn't your thing

There are no rules to creating a smashbook, you dont even have to follow any kind of layout like you would with scrpbooking.

Docrafts PDT Capsule Collection Geometric Neon Scrapbook Page 2

Hi all

I have a new page from my mini book which is a fab place to start if you are new to scrapbooking as it is smaller in size and great if you like to print your own photos. They come in two colours Neon and Mono but we will soon have Mocha but Shh nobody knows that yet ;). Please keep you fingers crossed for me as i apply for another term  with the Docrafts Team who will be doing a blog hop this weekend to wave off the old team.

I have kept the page simple by matting my 4x4 photo on to a slightly larger background and then staggering another piece at an angle.

The flag is cut out of one of the tabs which come in a little book and i love the enamel stckers

sometime less is more and a more simple layout will draw more attention to the photo.

Capsule Collecion Geometric Neon page 1

Hi all

i am back with another page from the Capsule Collection Geometric Neon book. 

The page is really simple just crop your photo and then cut two squares from the 6x6 paper pack.

I love the enamel stickers that come with the embellishment pack

I used the tabs as little buntings

Docrafts Trade Catalogue: Capsule Collection Geometric Mono Scrapbook kit

Hi all

I return to a old hobby called smashbooking which is like scrapbooking but quicker and without any rules. So i am going to introduce you to one of the new scrapbook kits from the New Capsule Collection Geometric Mono. This is being released in January and comes with coordinating paper packs and card kits.
                                                                       

The kit comes with this A5 sizes book which already has patterned paper in it so all you have to do is add photos.

It comes with the stickers which make decorating the pages easy and they can be repositioned if you are carefull.

I made a pocket so i could fit journaling on the page

I cut one of the pages up so i could use the paper to create layers but you can cur and stick to create anything form pockets to tabs,

La de dah page 2

I have another page from my La de  dah smash book to share this week. I have used a combination of the Grace Taylor papers and Bella Rose. both have lovely girly tones and patterns.

at the tender age of four, Gracie already knows her own mind and often  bosses the grown ups about.

Life in a Smashbook:Curiosities

Here it is a page I completed in my mini album, I had a lot of old photos and vintage printouts to had and decided to stick them in the book. here is a great site for free vintage pintables many of which I have used here. http://www.ephemerasvintagegarden.blogspot.co.uk.

 ive  added another little trinket box which I will share when its complete.

 this little trinket box was made with the Tim Holtz matchbook die, I covered it with a vintage printout. I added elastic inside to hold the garland in.

 I made a clasp to hold It shut by taking a small paper clip and gluing a metal embellishment on top. I aged the metal by mixing silver and copper embossing powder together and heating it up. I used watermark ink to hold the powder on.

the garland is made up of thick twine and print outs. I just glued the two sides together with the twine in the centre. I added some button die cuts made with Kraft card.

the items would be a bit awkward to open up and look at if they were adhered to the page. so I used magnetic tape to adhere them. it works out around £1.25 a meter.

the mini album was made using the sizzix framelet dies and I just left a gap over the edge of the folded paper so that it would come out joined together.

 I spent ages inking the pages with vintage photograph distress ink.

I used the xcut sewing patched die to make the bobbins and wrapped twine around them.

Smashbook: La de dah 1

Here is page one of my La De Dah smashbook. I will try to create a new page every week as a personal challenge to myself to get my photos into an album of some description. for those of you who have never herd of a smashbook, its basically a less formal way of scrapbooking and doesn't have to use photos either. Some people use them to keep packaging and tickets in because they like them while others use them to keep drawings and art in. Mine will be a random assortment of photos.

 The La de dah range come In 3 styles couture, pretty and journey. My book is the journey one and its more like a ring binder as you can remove the pages and add new ones. this is great for customising pages and covering over the patterns you don't like. I like the idea of having interactive pages and will design some with pocket and flaps latter but this week its a simple mini layout.

I been experimenting with stamps this week and I used the new photopolymer stamps from Trimcraft. I like these because they are made from a thick rubber and hold the ink better then the acrylic stamps.

Forever My friend

after a mad Christmas period full of shopping, eating and design team work, I am finally back with a new layout I created  with my new Docrafts products.

I used the new xcut button dies and combined them with the chronology cogs to create this simple layout about Leo. the paper I used is from the forever friends forever love collection.

2013 Smash Journal January to April

i decided to complete a smash journal for 2013 and because I've only just discovered it i had to go back  and complete pages from January to now. its more fun then i thought and i complete it in between layouts or when I'm not feeling like crafting.

 

 we had a great New Year and for once it was lively but January was a cold month with the snow and ice lasting about 3 weeks, this was the month Ant injured himself clearing the ice from under the car.

February was followed by even more snow and ice making it impossible to travel unless it was necessary.

 

March saw the closure of our local social club which means there is one less place to go now.

May was the month i decided to go for it and complete a load of Challenges from various craft sites. something i am going to continue doing over the next year.

Grumpy cat is so funny and Timmy gets himself into trouble a lot

its very satisfying to make something by hand and is sometimes cheaper then buying it from the shops.

Summer is here get your Smash on!!

I've just been caught up in the new phenomena called smash which is basically taking a pretty note book and turning it in to a pretty collection of photos and well anything you think is pretty. I've used mine like a mini scrapbook by adding journaling and photos and i find it helps to keep the creativity flowing while you think up your next project. I've been using the K&CO smash range and Papermania All aboard range as it can be cut up and used in a smash book.

 I have two smash journals, one for my holidays that i take with my and complete at the destination and one for 2013 where i record events and daytrips and everything else that comes to mind.

 Most of the stuff i used has been printed off pininterest or I've recycled from my scrapbooking stash.
