How To Create A Beautiful Vintage Christmas Card

Hi all

I have used the Steampunk'd Christmas Stamp Set to create a vintage Christmas card. You can use these stamps for more traditional Christmas crafts too.

Start off by covering a 6 x 6 card blank with patterned paper. 

Then cut out a large rectangle from green pattered paper.

For the next layer, use a banner die and cut out a sheet of matching paper, Wrap red twine around the top and adhere to card.

Glue paper to the back of the wooden frame and adhere to card.

Stamp out the Santa stamp onto white card and colour in with markers.

Cut out the Santa and adhere to the wooden frame

Decorate with paper flowers and cut a sentiment out of the patterned paper.

How To Create a Floral Bird House Card

 Hi all

I  have a card to share on the blog today. I used the foils with Best Glue ever to create a birdhouse themed card.

Paper

Cover a 5 x 7 card blank with patterned paper and then cover half the card with floral print paper. Tear a strip of light pink paper and adhere across the card. Cut two flags from the patterned paper and layer them together before adhering to the card.

Add a sentiment

Paint the mdf birdhouse i teal and then use Best Glue Ever to adhere a strip of lace across the bottom and a large resin flower on the side.

Apply Best Glue Ever to the roof and window pieces and allow it to go tacky. Next take a small piece of purple foil and rub it onto the pieces with your finger. If you get a few patches just repeat the steps until it is covered. Glue the pieces together and then adhere to the card.

Trimcraft Easter Printables, Bunny Egg Card

Hi all

I have had a play with the free Easter papers from Trimcraft and created this cute bunny egg card.

I used a egg nesting die to create the base and then i used a hexagon nesting die to cut up the papers. Next i glued each piece over the large egg and trimmed them to fit before placing the next layer on top.

I used washi tape along the sides and added some little wooden buttons along the washi tape.

How to make

1) Cover a  6 X 6 square card blank with the Renew patterned paper.  

2) Add a stencil to the base

3) Using the banner die set, cut out the largest shape and the one a bit smaller and glue to top of card.

4 Take a length of twine and fix the end to the back of the card with tape. Wrap around the top of the card.

5)  Cut out a large butterfly from the patterned paper and glue to corner and glue a resin flower to the middle.

6) Cut out a small butterfly and cut in half. Adhere inside the small banner and finish with a sentiment.

IKE's Art Photo Inspiration: Dis Cracker Iz Mine Christmas Card

Hi all

I am posting my make for IKE's Art Challenge http://ikesworldchallengeblog.blogspot.co.uk/. We will be on the Christmas break until January.

Well the Christmas Tree has survived so far but i hear the odd thud as one of the cats gives the baubles a whack but so far they haven't tried to climb it. I have the presents wrapped and most of the shopping done so bring it on i have Vodka and Brandy at the ready.

I used Crackercat because mine are crackers too but i just thought he looked cute before ripping that thing to bits. I can just picture the carnage now. The papers are from the First Edition A Christmas Story paper pad. 

I colored in the image using Prima Watercolor pastels and just used a water brush to paint the color on starting with more color around the edges of the image and moving the color out into the center.

The Vintage File World War 2 Scrapbook page

Hi all

I have a war themed scrapbook page to share today from my article in The Vintage File magazine. I have a photo of my Great Uncle Victor and his troops in their uniforms. I don't know a lot about the photo or if he ever fought overseas. He was one of the lucky ones who survived the war and i wonder how many of his troop made it back. If you have any war stories please share in the comments as i would love to hear them weather you are from the UK or overseas.

I am lucky enough to still have my Nan's Ration book which i scanned onto the computer and printed out onto card stock. I Scan all of the old photos as they deteriorate over time and sometimes the glue from the old albums turns them yellow and brittle. I used the Madame Payraud's paper collection by Docrafts for this layout as it is full of vintage advertisements which i cut up and layered together.

The poppy is from the Trimcraft First Edition Layered Flowers set and i just used textured card stock to cut the bits out of. 

Here is the inside of a ration book from the 1940's. My Nan used to tell me how the sirens would go off and everyone would have to go own to the bunker of cellar if they had one. It's  hard to imagine what that must have been like as it could go off at anytime and everything would be pitch black as the cities would turn the lights off. My Nan was 19 years old at the time and worked in the factories making ammunition parts before the war it made hair clips. It was common practice for factories to convert to making goods for the troops and this is the time when Women were allowed to go to work for the first time. A strange idea nowadays.

I have a thing for bunting and i had to add it as part of my title. I used a 2 in 1 tag punch from Fiskars and stamped the letters on. If you smudge it by mistake then stamp onto card first and cut them out or use a circle punch if it will fit over the letters.

Life in a Snapshot Torquay Mixed Media Layout

Hi all here is my scrapbook page for the October sketch challenge. I am experimenting with DecoArt Acrylic paints which i used to create a mixed media background. 

I used Trimcraft Back to Basics True Blue for the paper layers and Kaisercraft texture stamps on the background,

I applied a couple of stencils using DecoArt Modeling Paste to add texture and then flicked white ink over the page.

I then decorated the page woth resin flowers and sequins

Trimcraft Simply Creative Shabby Chic Cards Tutorial

Hi all

I have a few cards i made using the Simply Creative Shabby Chic papers with the step by steps for you to follow. There are more samples on my gallery http://www.trimcraft.co.uk/projects/author/katiel

1. Cover a 6x6 card with patterned paper
2. Cut a wide strip of pink patterned paper and adhere to center of card
3. Cut a white doily in half and adhere at opposite sides of the pink paper
4. Cut out a 7 cm x 5cm strip of paper and adhere to center of pink paper
5. Take a couple of washi tapes and cut two strips of different lengths. Adhere to middle of card.
6. Adhere a wooden frame over washi tape.
7. Die-cut three feathers out of white card. Cover the tops of the feathers with gold washi tape and adhere to frame.

1. Take a 6 x 6 card blank and cover both sides with matching patterned paper
2. Adhere a 6 x 6 sheet of patterned paper inside the card 
3. Fold the two ends over each other like you would if creating a gate fold card
4. Draw a circle in the middle of the two flaps and cut out 
5. in the centre of the card add a 4 cm wide strip and then cut out two scalloped circles and layer them up.
6. Cut out a sentiment and add to centre of circle
7. Place the card over a sheet of acetate and mark out the shape of the card before cutting out.
8. Glue the acetate to the top flap and fold the edges of the bottom flap over to make a stand
9. Using the Fiskars mini heart punch and craft foam, Punch out several hearts in chosen colours and glue to front of acetate.

PaperCrafter Issue 98 Free Papers Projects

                                                                   Hi all

I was given a set of the free papers from PaperCrafter Magazine issue 98. I was asked to make up a few projects using them so here they are.

I am proud of this one as it got me in the cover of issue 98.  The Dovecraft Back to Basics Bright Spark embellishments worked well with the bright patterns.

I really love the bright patterns on this paper set

I made a bunting using the Open Butterflies from Things to Alter and drew around a blank one onto the paper before gluing it to the back of the MDF shapes

I also made a 8 x 8 scrapbook layout using some MDF shapes and the lovely bright papers. The picture was taken in Torquay.

I used DecoArt Crafters Acrylic to paint the shapes as i love the variety of colors they do

Trimcraft Simply Creative Life's a Beach Altered Frame

Hi all

I love all things nautical so i made myself a seaside themed frame using the Simply Creative Life's A Beach paper pad. The frame i got from Poundland so it is a cheap gift for someone.

I just glued a few flowers and shells around the frame using a hot glue gun and this time i didn't burn myself.

The bunting was created using a bit of jute twine and the small bunting die from the Dovecraft Cutting /dies Collection.

Trimcraft Simply Creative Play Days Cards and Step by Step Instructions

Hi all

I have a few bright and fun cards to share using the Simply Creative Play Days paper pads.

1. Cover a 6x6 card blank with the rainbow stripe paper
2. Cut the 6x6 rain drop patterned paper in half, Use a boarder punch to add a lace edge  and stick to bottom of card.
3. Cut a 4cm wide strip of Rainbows patterned paper and stick to bottom of the card
4. Using the Princess Die Set, Cut out three unicorns from pink and purple card stock and stick them along the card.
5. Stick a pink doily in the top right corner of the card and trim
6. Add a sentiment topper to finish card

1. Cover a 6x6 card with patterned paper
2. Stick another piece of paper over the top of the card at and angle and trim
3. Cut a green doily in half and stick it to the side of the card
4. Add another layer of paper to the top by placing it at an angle and trimming it down
5. Cut out the bunting from the Dovecraft cutting dies collection.
6. Glue the bunting onto twine and once dry staple the banner to the card
7. Add a sentiment and a few sequins to finish

1. Cover a 6x6 card in patterned paper
2. Take another sheet and glue it to the card at and angle and trim to fit
3. Cut two flags out of patterned paper and layer up 
4. Cut out a circle and adhere to centre of the flags
5. Cut out the rocket from blue card
6. Add a few sequins and a sentiment

Trimcraft Simply Creative Lavender Dreams Cards

Using a 6 x 6 square card blank, cover the whole card in a sheet of 6 x 6 patterned paper .

Cut another sheet about 8 cm wide and glue to edge of card.

Cut out a large scalloped edge circle and glue to center of strip.

Using the Buckles, Frames and Boarders die set, Cut out the thin heart boarder and glue across the circle.

Cut out the cut out the flowers with steams from the Nature Die Set. Cut two out in green card and two in purple. Cut the flowers off the purple ones and glue to the green ones.

Adhere the flowers to center of the circle

Cut out a pair of leaves and adhere over the flower steams

Cut out a large butterfly and adhere to center of the circle. Add a gem to the center

Finish card with a sentiment 

Take the ribbon card blanks and cut two strips of purple paper about 1.5 cm wide. glue these to the back of the card where the ribbon would slot through.

Cut a 4 cm wide flag from lilac paper and glue off center to the top of the card.

Cut out a selection of leaves and foliage from green card stock.  I used the Nature die set.

Take some twine and create a rough loop.

 Place this over the flag and glue into place.

Adhere the foliage to the center of the flag starting with the thinner steams and layering the leaves over the top.

Cut out a few flowers and place the large one over the top of the leaves and add a small flower in the center.

Cut out a few small butterflies and dot them around the center of the card.

Use a hole punch to create the little dots from the scrap paper.

Finish card with a sentiment sticker.

Using a 5 x 7 card blank, Cover half of the card in a dark purple paper and half in pale purple.

Using the Borders die set, cut out a wide border and a thin boarder. Trim the wider boarder in half and glue to the center of the card.

Cut out a scalloped circle and adhere to center of the card.

Adhere the thin boarder across the circle.

Cut a doily from pale patterned paper and adhere to center of the circle

Cut out two lots of foliage from green card stock.

Take the leaves and a purple flower from the Simply Creative collection and adhere them to the center of the circle. Take the two die cut leaves and slot them between the leaves.

Cut out two small flowers from the Nature die set and place in the middle of the purple flower. Add a mini bow and button.

Finish card by cutting out another boarder and cutting this in half. Adhere to the corners of the card and decorate with flowers and buttons.
