Susan K Weckesser Creative Team Mixed Media Inspire At Journal

Hi all

I have a new Journal page i created using DecoArt products and Susan K Weckesser Inc Stamps. I am still experimenting with textures and layering those textures up.

I wanted to show you haw to create layers using different stencils. So to start with i used a background stencil such as DecoArt  Pixleated and applied DecoArt White Modeling paste over the top which gives a lovely raised pattern when it dries. I then used the Doodle Stencil  and i applied white modeling paste to the number strip.

Next i used DecoArt Black Modeling paste with a Tim Holtz distress stencil and let it dry.

I stamped the In Circle Me  stamp down the center of the page and I then used a black marker pen to doodle on  some circles which i colored in using the Color Pop Mini Inks. I the used DecoArt Fluid Acrylic  Cobalt Teal Blue to pain over the background. I mixed it with water so it covered the pad easier.

I then took the In Circle Me stamp and partially inked sections of the stamp before stamping it over the page.

I used the Grunge Fun Stamp set and stamped the stitching randomly around the page.

I used Teal Metallic Lustre and rubbed it over the stenciling to bring out the detail and then i used the A Little Grunge Love and stamped the small arrow around the page and used the two hearts and stamped them onto smooth card. I inked around the edge of the stamp with Black Archival Ink and then colored them in with Color Pop Mini Inks.

I then used glue to stick the hearts down and once dry i added a mini stencil mask over the large ones and stamped the smaller ones with the Grunge Fun background stamp. I then took the little heart stamp and stamped it in between the larger hearts.

I used the Painted Sentiments stamps to add a couple of words

Gecko Galz Customer Challenge August Taking it Nautical

Hi all

I can't believe where July has gone. I guess i have been so busy what with Wimbledon and the Euro 2016 being on i had to put in some long shifts at work. Its calming down now until the football starts again so i can catch up with my crafting.

I am  back with my project for the August Gecko Galz Customer Challenge. This month the challenge has a Nautical theme. http://geckogalzscrapbooking.blogspot.co.uk/

I used my free stamp from July and used Turquoise Ken Oliver Color Burst powder to colour the stamp and the top half of the card. i used a brush to get even coverage. I then went over the seahorse with a First Edition Mint Green Marker Pen to high light it.

I used The Crafters Workshop  Ledger stencil  with DecoArt Modelling paste to add a pattern to the card.

I used the Sea Side papers which come with the Seaside Splendour  Craft Kit

I painted up a few cogs from Things to Alter using the Ken Oliver Liquid Metals

I used the Ken Oliver Color Burst Powder to dye the white flowers. I mixed it with water and then dipped the white flowers

Oak House Studio: Introducing The New Bigger Texture Stamps

Hi all
I am up on the Oak House Studio Blog with a new layout and I have some new texture stamps to show you. These are the larger versions of the texture stamps that come with the Double Daisy set but now are a good size for mixed media projects. The stamps are available to buy here http://www.oakhousestudio.com/ourshop/prod_4936011-Mixed-textures-stamp-set.html

I started my page off with some stenciling around the layout using texture paste mixed with Peacock  Pure Colour Chemistry Ink. I used the Ledger Sheet stencil mask by The Crafters Workshop and added the texture randomly around the page. I then Flicked Sapphire Acrylic Ink

I added some lace trims to my page and dotted around a few pearls

I cut up a couple of sheets of Gypsy gypsy paper pad and cut out the postcards. I distressed the edges and added stenciling on them before layering them up.

I took the texture stamps and stamped them around the page and over the stenciling. I used Vintage Sepia and Cobalt Blue Colour Chemistry Ink Pads.

I added more of the texture past around the scrabble tiles to distress them

Susan K Weckesser Creative Team February Friendship Smile Card

Hi all

I am back with another project for design team blog and this month the focus is friendship. I used the Fly Away stamp set for this project http://susankweckesser.com/product/fly-away/

This time i used  the Bouquet 12x12 sheet.
I added the first layer of texture to the cards using a stencil mask.

I then used sunshine yellow ink to stamp the second layer of texture using the A Little Bit Washi set.
Using the Fly Away set i stamped out the images onto card and coloured them in before cutting them out.

Using the Grunge Fun set i stamped a few tows of stitches down the page.
I stamped #bff on the sun from the Grunge Fun set and stuck it to the card using 3d foam pads.
I then stuck two clouds down and added mini  pegs to the tops so it looks like they are hanging by a thread.

Susan K Weckesser Creative Team: February Friendship mixed media card

Hi all

I am back with a new mixed media card for  our February blog theme which is Friendship. So i made this simple mixed media card to share with a friend.

I started of by taking a 12 x 12 sheet of  Bouquet paper and covering a 5x7 card blank.

I then applied texture using a stencil mask and texture paste before spritzing it with Paris Pink ink.

I took the texture stamp from the Grunge Fun set and added another layer of texture using the A Little Bit Washi set.

I stamped out the kite from the Fly Away set onto smoothe card and coloured it in using alcohol markers before cutting it out.

I stamped the kite stamp into the centre of the card and then cut out part of the coloured image and layered it over the top.

I finished the card off using the smile stamp from the A Little Bit Washi set.

Pan Pastels Steampunk card

Hi all

I have made a mixed media card by using Magenta and Blue Pan Pastels to create a textured background. If you would like to join in the challenges you can link up here http://welove2create.blogspot.co.uk/

I first blended Magenta with a little Blue and used it to colour the blank card base before applying a stencil. I then rubbed more of the Pastels over the stencil.

The image is coloured with Sepia and gold inks to create a metallic look

I then added the layers and placed the image over the top

Susan K Weckesser Inc creative team: Grumpy Chick Mixed Media Layout

Hi all
I am back with another post for the Susan K Weckesser Creative Team. I have a mixed media layout to share using the A Little Bit Washi stamp set, its one of my favourites so I've had a good play with them. The theme of this month is exploring our backyard which over the summer had a few little visitors. I went into the shed to find a robin's nest wedged onto one of the shelves so i snapped a few pictures as it is wonderful to be so close to nature.

I love this stamp set because not only does it produce clean images that will stick to anything, The textures are brilliant and are versatile enough to use on any project.

For the base i used the Color Bust 12 x 12 sheet by Susan K Weckesser and i used a layer of texture paste before spritzing the background  with Inks In A Bottle Brazil Nut, Pumpkin and French Lavender to get an Earthy colour, I then took the Doodle Stencil and used white texture paste to create a few rows of flowers. I added some to the layers as well

I loved stamping over this canvas bunting by Prima which the Susan K Weckesser stamps work well with. Again i stuck with Earthy Autumn colours and used Colour Chemistry ink pads Spring Green, Golden Yellow and Fire Brick. I then threaded twine through the bunting and glued it all down.

For the flower i used plain cream card and stamped over the petals using the A Little Bit Washi stamp set and then i coloured in the circles with gold accents.

I called him grumpy chick after a friend pointed out his moody little face.

The stitching pattern is from the Grunge Fun stamp set which i stamped across the page along side the A Little Bit Washi stamps.

Susan K Weckesser Creative team Tumbleweed houses ATCs

Hi all

I am back with some ATCs i made using the tumbleweed houses stamp set.

ATC is short for artist trading card and we swap them with each other.  It's like a miniature work of art

I coloured in the houses with First Edition Markers and cut them out.

I created the backgrounds by spritzing a couple of Oak House Studio Inks In A Bottle onto the blank card and blending them with a brush.

I created a pattern on the card by rubbing ink over a TCW stencil using a make-up sponge.

The Home stamp was coloured using water based ink for a more vibrant effect.

I used blue inks to create a sky line and coloured in a few of the little houses before cutting them out and lining them up in a row.
