Dreams Of The Sea Artist Trading Block With Unity Co Stamps

Hello all

Remember when i said i had mermaids swimming in my head? No i am not going mad i just had a lot of craft ideas using mermaids at the time. Well i have an artist trading block to share using  the Spirit Of A Mermaid stamp set designed by Susan K Weckesser

This started off as a plastic toy pirate chest. I painted it with Prima Rust Paste and once the first layer had dried, i added heavy  gel medium and sprinkled on blue glass sand and added moss. I then added resin shells and other bits in order to make it look like it had been in the water for awhile.

Before i stuck the block  together i gave it a coat of blue acrylic paint and then once it had dried i used a fish scale stencil over the whole thing using DecoArt  modelling  paste and left it to set. Then i used two different  shades of blue acrylic paint over the top, painting each one half way up the front. I finished off by using the green iridescent  paint for added shimmer.

I stamped  out the mermaid and coloured her in before i cut her out.

I made the tail using a silicone  mould and paper clay and left it to air dry. I then painted it green and covered it in Wow embossing  powder before setting it all with a heat gun. I added a cute little mermaid heat on the fin to finish.

The rest of the pieces are covered in rust paste and moss for that undersea look. I love the mermaid pearls as they look like bubbles.

DecoArt Blogger Outreach: Inspire Art Journal page

                                                                        Hi all

I have started an Art Journal which is going to be a learning curve for me as i can't seem to get it quite right. Maybe i am my own worse critic but I've seen some absolute stunning art journal pages and i would like to know how they get them so bloody fabulous.

I started the page off by covering the page in the  Short Circuit Stencil and painting a couple of DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics onto the page and spritzing water on to them to make them run.

I then tore up a few strips of Mirabelle Decoupage sheets and glued them to the page before painting over the centre with gesso and then white crackle paste. The words are from Sussan K Weckessers  Journal words set.

I used a itty bitty stamp from Unity but the lettering didn't show very well so i painted over it.

Susan K Weckesser Mixed Media Layout Vintage Blue Car

HI all

I am back with my DT inspiration for the Susan K Weckesser Creative team. Our theme this month is mixed media so i have a new layout to share. You can find more inspiration here http://mysweetearth.blogspot.ca/

I started  the layout off by mixing orange and brown acrylic paint together and dabbing it along the edges of the page. I then sprinkled cinnamon over the top and dabbed more paint over to build up the rust effect. I sealed it all with hair spray.

I stamped the Grunge Fun texture stamp and the A Little Bit Washi Set over the page using Fire Brick Red ink. I then used the rust effect technique on the MDF cogs.

I used some of the paint mixture with the Doodle Stencil and sprinkled it with cinnamon to add texture.

I used the Smile stamp from the A Little Bit Washi stamp and the little heart from the Grunge Fun Stamp set  to add another layer of stamping to the background.

I used these Stamp Sets which are available  in the Unity Stamps Store or from the Susan Weckesser website

Susan K Weckesser Creative Team February Friendship Smile Card

Hi all

I am back with another project for design team blog and this month the focus is friendship. I used the Fly Away stamp set for this project http://susankweckesser.com/product/fly-away/

This time i used  the Bouquet 12x12 sheet.
I added the first layer of texture to the cards using a stencil mask.

I then used sunshine yellow ink to stamp the second layer of texture using the A Little Bit Washi set.
Using the Fly Away set i stamped out the images onto card and coloured them in before cutting them out.

Using the Grunge Fun set i stamped a few tows of stitches down the page.
I stamped #bff on the sun from the Grunge Fun set and stuck it to the card using 3d foam pads.
I then stuck two clouds down and added mini  pegs to the tops so it looks like they are hanging by a thread.

Susan K Weckesser Creative Team: February Friendship mixed media card

Hi all

I am back with a new mixed media card for  our February blog theme which is Friendship. So i made this simple mixed media card to share with a friend.

I started of by taking a 12 x 12 sheet of  Bouquet paper and covering a 5x7 card blank.

I then applied texture using a stencil mask and texture paste before spritzing it with Paris Pink ink.

I took the texture stamp from the Grunge Fun set and added another layer of texture using the A Little Bit Washi set.

I stamped out the kite from the Fly Away set onto smoothe card and coloured it in using alcohol markers before cutting it out.

I stamped the kite stamp into the centre of the card and then cut out part of the coloured image and layered it over the top.

I finished the card off using the smile stamp from the A Little Bit Washi set.

Hi all

I am back with another tag using the What's Up Gnomey Stamp Set.

I coloured him in with a mixture of Pure Colour Chemistry inks and alcohol markers and used a make up sponge to apply  ink to a stencil mask for the pattern on his clothes. I cut him out and stick him to the tag with foam tape.

The background was made by spritzing inks onto a plain tag and then stamping the background using the A Little Bit Washi stamp set.

Susan K Weckesser Creative Team December Simple Mixed Media Cards

Hi all

I am back with some quick and easy mixed media cards using the Snow Way stamp set and the A Little Bit Washi stamp set. It's almost Christmas, are we excited yet?

I took a blank card and spritzed it with two different colours of blue spritzing inks and then used the Salty Ocean dabber by Tim Holtz and blended it in. I used the gold Smooch ink around the corners to add a bit of shimmer.

I used alcohol markers to colour the edges of the tag and snowman and used a blender pen to mixed the colours. I then layered up the snowman to make a topper and added sparkles.

I had another play with the Tumbleweed Houses stamp set

Again i mixed Sepia and burgundy inks together and used the gold smooch ink around the edges. i used the sentiment from the Snow Way stamp set and cut it out so i could position it along the bottom of the card.

I  coloured the housed in Red and Gold to make them more festive

Hi all

I am back with my first post for December using the Snow Way stamp set . How is everyone coping with the festive season?  grab your mince pies and mulled wine and let the festive fun begin.

Cute aren't they? I loved the way these little snowmen looked coloured in so i made a few ATCs

I spritzed the background with a mixture of Vintage Blue, Vintage Burgundy and Sepia Inks

The background is stamped with the A Little Bit Washi set which is one of my favs

you can get so many different designs with the Snow Way stamp set and there are so many different colour combinations you could use.

I added some clear sparkles because the look like little snowballs.

The Snow Way stamp set has so many whimsical designs. I love this cheeky little chap with his little hat and scarf.

Susan K Weckesser Inc creative team: Grumpy Chick Mixed Media Layout

Hi all
I am back with another post for the Susan K Weckesser Creative Team. I have a mixed media layout to share using the A Little Bit Washi stamp set, its one of my favourites so I've had a good play with them. The theme of this month is exploring our backyard which over the summer had a few little visitors. I went into the shed to find a robin's nest wedged onto one of the shelves so i snapped a few pictures as it is wonderful to be so close to nature.

I love this stamp set because not only does it produce clean images that will stick to anything, The textures are brilliant and are versatile enough to use on any project.

For the base i used the Color Bust 12 x 12 sheet by Susan K Weckesser and i used a layer of texture paste before spritzing the background  with Inks In A Bottle Brazil Nut, Pumpkin and French Lavender to get an Earthy colour, I then took the Doodle Stencil and used white texture paste to create a few rows of flowers. I added some to the layers as well

I loved stamping over this canvas bunting by Prima which the Susan K Weckesser stamps work well with. Again i stuck with Earthy Autumn colours and used Colour Chemistry ink pads Spring Green, Golden Yellow and Fire Brick. I then threaded twine through the bunting and glued it all down.

For the flower i used plain cream card and stamped over the petals using the A Little Bit Washi stamp set and then i coloured in the circles with gold accents.

I called him grumpy chick after a friend pointed out his moody little face.

The stitching pattern is from the Grunge Fun stamp set which i stamped across the page along side the A Little Bit Washi stamps.

I used the First Edition Marker Pens to colour her in with. For the hair i used Oak House Studio's Garnet Acrylic ink and used the markers to create the highlights.

I used the Gorjuss Girl papers for the layers because they are lovely and grungy. I then cut out some cogs using the Xcut cog set and Neon Cardstock. I stamped over the neon and card base using Susan K weckesser A Little Bit Washi stamps.
