Life in a Snapshot December Challenge Art Journal

I think this journal page represents what happens when you unleash your inner child. I went with a winter theme that followed the Mood Board but started going through my stash and trowing things on just to see what happened

I like these micro beads by 13Arts which you can melt with a heat gun. I didn't melt them fully to keep texture and spritzed inks over them

I used the dove from the More Then An Art Journal kit by Marta Van Eck

I tore up decoupage paper to add more layers

I used different stencils and stamps to add layers to the background

DecoArt Blogger Outreach Program: Art Journal Spread You Wings Layout

Hi all

I have a new art journal spread to share. I have been practicing with this area of mixed media for a couple of months and it is getting there slowly.

i started off by covering both pages with white gesso. This covers up any marks on the pages and stops inks soaking through. I then choose three shades of green for the background which are Early Spring Green, Citrus Green and Ocean Green. I painted the pale color over the pages and then while it was drying i went over the edged with Citrus and Ocean green.

I then stamped around the edges with Frayed Burlap Distress ink and used the Lost Coast Designs  Grunge ATC Background Stamps Set. I then used a pale blue acrylic paint and covered sections of the stamps and stamped them randomly along the edges and page. I like the textures to be imperfect and a bit faded.

I used the DecoArt Spirited Urban Ink stencil with white modeling paste to add the focal points and lettering.

I went over the stencil with Turquoise Metallic Lustre once it had set to bring the design up a bit more.

Thank you for visit

Things to Alter July Friends Layout

                                                                         Hi all

I have a mixed media layout to show you for this months Things to Alter DT project. The challenge is anything goes and you don't have to use Things to Alter products to join http://thingstoalter.blogspot.co.uk/. we also have a Facebook group here
                                         https://www.facebook.com/groups/1578437669085933/

I have been experimenting with powdered inks and then discovered the Ken Oliver colour burst powders which are a lot cleaner to use as you just shake the powder out the bottle.

I created the background by spritzing it with water and sprinkling Brusho powder on to it. I then spritzed it with more water to diffuse the colour. Once the Ultramarine had dried i then added a layer of Purple . I used the Grunge ATC stamps by Lost Coast Designs to and a layer of stamping to the background.

I used one of the MDF Geoclusters frames and coated it in gesso before painting with crackle paste.
I then dyed it with the leftover ink. I used the 1/2 inch alphabet to create the title which i painted with Ken Oliver Liquid Metals Copper ink

The stamp set is the Travel Stuff set by Lost Coast Designs which i stamped on to smooth card and inked using Ken Oliver Sepia Colour Burst Powder. I used the Copper Liquid Metals to paint the Penny Farthing

The photo is of my Nan and her friend at the seaside.

I used the powdered inks to colour white paper flowers so that they always match my project.
