Artful Days Spring Hearts Decorations

Hi all
I have had these hearts in my stash for about 6 years and this year i am determined to use up my old stash. I was a bit bored with the usual pinks and reds of the season so i went with a Spring theme.

  1. Paint the hearts with gesso and then texture sand paste.
  2. Paint them with pastel colours.
  3. Glue Sisal onto a few of the hearts and decorate with paper and silk flowers.
  4. Add a few small glitter Easter Eggs.
  5. Paint small resin birds with matching metallic paint and adhere to hearts.
  6. Add Art Balls around hearts.

Fallout Themed Altered Bottle Caps Nuka Cola, Nuka Quantum and Sunset Sarsaparilla.

Hello all

I am back with another set of props from the game Fallout. The various games use a few different currencies to trade goods and caps are one of the main currencies from the series whether they be Nuka Cola or Sunset Sarsaparilla.

DecoArt Multi-Surface Paint in Red Hot,Dark Scarlet,Cobalt, and True Blue.

Bottle caps
Sand paper
Caps print out
Circle punch 1.5 inch
Strong glue Best Glue Ever
You can find all the caps printouts here https://www.deviantart.com/emptysamurai/art/Sunset-sarsaparilla-caps-202580432

Print out the caps using this sheet.
I sanded the caps with sandpaper and then used DecoArt multi-surface paints.
I used two shades of red for the Nuka Cola and Sunset Sarsaparilla caps. This is so you get a grungy layered look when you sand back a bit of the paint.

I used a 2inch circle punch to get the tops of the caps round. I the sanded them down a little to distress them.

I used a mixture of Tim Holtz Vintage Photo and Tea Stain to get the grungy look.

These are from Fallout New Vegas

The Glittery Hands Box Tea and Cake Cookie Bunting

Hello all
I have a easy tutorial for you to follow on how to make a cookie themed bunting using the May box from The Glittery Hands Box.

Start off by rolling out some paper clay and then use the heart cutter to cut out the cookies.

Use a needle to add some holies and to create a scalloped edge. Poke a hole in the top to add the string.

Paint the cookies with acrylic paint. I went for a traditional cookie colour but you can choose anything.

Use a hot glue gun to add the icing. The glue will take a few minutes to set depending on how thick the icing is. Paint these your desired colour and leave to dry.

I cut the letters out of craft foam using an alphabet die and glued them on.

Paint heavy gel medium onto each cookie and sprinkle micro beads over them.

Once they are dry, tie some twine though the top and thread them onto the ribbon. Use mini pegs to hold them in place.

Easter egg decorations tutorial

Hi everyone
as Easter approaches i decided to make some decorations for an Easter tree. to start with i am going to quickly explain how to make these felt egg hanging decorations which could also be sewn on to ribbon of twine and made into a garland.

To start with you will need a selection of felt, i recommend the Dovecraft essentials felt packs as they are cheap at around £2 a pack for 8 A4 sheets of felt which are a nice soft material and not the hard acrylic like some of the cheaper brands. you can get packs of nearly every color from bgpaynecrafts.co.uk  for £1.59 a pack of course i got a bit trigger happy with the add to cart button.

I used a Xcut egg nesting die as these cut through material and is a lot quicker then cutting by hand. If you do not own a die cut machine then i have a template you can print out and use instead. visit http://www.activityvillage.co.uk/easter-templates and get it directly from the site.

so basically i cut two of each color and on one i glued a ribbon loop to hang the egg up with.i then hand stitched around the egg and left a gap to put the stuffing in. I know the toy stuffing can be expensive so i use the stuffing out of a cushion. you can get these from the pound shops. i finished off my decorations with buttons and resin flowers.

I wish my team luck and i will still be here to offer my support.

Welcome back Sarah Douglas, Paula and Michelle. I am happy to be working with you again.

I would also like to welcome our new members Mary,Julie,Katie and Doreen. congratulations for getting on to the team.

Here are some of my makes, i have moved on from the simple scrapbook style and in to the mixed media style of crafting but some times simple woks better.

i discovered that i could apply mixed media techniques to cards and now its on everything.

i have begun to enjoy taking boring objects and making them pretty, i will never throw an empty jar into the recycle bin ever again.

I had so much fun altering these bare basics shapes and now i want to do more.

Crafty creations at The Memory Nest

hi here is my crafty creation for this week you can add yours here http://thememorynest.blogspot.co.uk/2013/10/crafty-creations-4.html

This Halloween I decided to decorate my own Halloween tree just like the ones on pin interest.  I had t make a lot of the decorations myself as not many stores sell the tree decorations here in the UK.
I made the felt decorations using a free pattern off pin interest and the pine cones were free as I collected them from the park. I just gave them a wash and coated them in acrylic paint and ultra fine glitter. every thing else I got from Poundland which is like the dollar store.

next i'll will be sharing a card and a wreath.
