Coming soon to Scrapbook Magazine

Hi  everyone

I have been sitting on some fantastic news for the last few weeks and now i can announce it.

I have been asked to work with the design team at Scrapbook Magazine and will be introduced as a designer in issue 90. I can't show you my layouts until after the magazine has been published but i can give you a peek of whats to come.

This is my first layout made with the lovely Sweet Paris range, the mist spray is the Ayeeda range by 13arts.

                                               
 My next layout uses a mixture of Docrafts ranges but mostly the Eau de nil and French Lavender ranges and of course my favorite Artiste spritzing inks, i can only hope they extend this range soon.

My next layout uses a lot of Oak House Studio products, mostly the Colour Chemistry inks and the Sea life and Sea Shells stamps. I've added a few bits from the Happy Scatter valentines range which i have recently found on Etsy.


I  have one last layout to make and send in but it will be a surprise for now. I also have more exciting crafty news to share but i will have to keep it quiet until March.


I can't wait to begin working with the team and learning a lot of new techniques as i face a new challenge. Once i have been published i will post my layouts with more details and a step by steps.

Docrafts Design Team 2014 Blog hop

This month is the beginning of my new term with the Docrafts team i am so relieved and happy to be fortunate enough to continue designing for them. But it is a bittersweet moment because today i have to say goodbye to my old team.

Wendy, Diana, Heather,  Keren, Dee, and Nikki. it has been a joy and honor to work with such a talented team and one day i hope to work with you again. congratulations to Sarah Jackman Read who has become our newest member of the Docrafts in house team. I wish my team luck and i will still be here to offer my support.

Welcome back Sarah Douglas, Paula and Michelle. I am happy to be working with you again.

I would also like to welcome our new members Mary,Julie,Katie and Doreen. congratulations for getting on to the team.

Here are some of my makes, i have moved on from the simple scrapbook style and in to the mixed media style of crafting but some times simple woks better.

 i discovered that i could apply mixed media techniques to cards and now its on everything.

 i have begun to enjoy taking boring objects and making them pretty, i will never throw an empty jar into the recycle bin ever again.

I had so much fun altering these bare basics shapes and now i want to do more.

The Memory Nest Make it Monday 30

Hi all i start off the December challenges with a new sketch and layout. if you would like to play along the join us at www.thememorynest.blogspot.co.uk. winners will get the chance to guest design in the next challenge. December is going to be one of those months where i will be changing design teams as most of my terms end this month. I am waiting to find out if i am continuing on with Docrafts and i have stepped down from The Memory Nest so we will be announcing a new team next week.

You can take any inspiration from the sketch  you like and here is my interpretation below

i wanted to do another nautical layout using the lovely sea shell stamps by Oak House Studios. i also used their sea blue ink and denim blue embossing powder to give the stamps more detail. The photo is of the Portland Bill lighthouse near Weymouth Dorset.  it a lovely area surrounded by dramatic rocky landscapes and blue sea, very calming.

Here i have used a selection of paper flowers and embellishments form Trimcraft. i used the Dovecraft essentials 3D pearls to give them a shimmer effect.

 I
 used the Memory Box Texture Disperse stencil (88507) to create the background and then spritzed over it with Oak House Studio's Vintage blue and Tempting Teal spray inks.

i used a stencil mask  Alpha Crumbled (88500) by Memory Box, to create the title using Slate grey ink from the Colour Chemistry range (www.oakhousestudio.com). i just rubbed over the letters using a make up sponge.

Another new challenge is up at www.thememorynest.blogspot.co.uk , this time the challenge is based around one of my specialities, Mixed media.

yes it sounds daunting but its really simple and all you need to do is take some gesso or white acrylic paint and cover a large area of your layout with it and wait for it to dry. Then you can add any type of inks, paints and stamped images you want. just go wild and unleash the creativity.

 I used a lot of masks on this one, with these you can either cover them over with modelling paste to get a raised pattern or use inks over them. Just make sure you hold them close to the page to prevent bleeding.

                           
                              I used different paints on this part and toned them in with gesso.

This is what the modelling paste looks like if used on a mask and left to dry. If you use a heat gun on it then it goes puffy.

I cut the title out of Kraft card and used a stencil mask to dab ink on to the letters.

Introducing First Edition Botanical Notes Paper pads

Hello everyone 

today i am going to share with you two projects i have made using the new Botanical Notes pads from First Edition. it is absolutely beautiful and is perfect for vintage, girly or wedding projects. again this pad comes with different textured papers from canvas effect to foil engraved patterns.

 i have really got into mixed media lately and love the paper flowers that Trimcraft produce. i have used an assortment of different ones.  the background page already had a lot on it but i used a few stencil masks to add texture and dimension to it.

to get the running ink effect i just took the cap off of the spritzing inks and dropped a blob of ink on the page, tilted it up and blew the ink down the page or you can use a straw.

i used the butterfly from the Dovecraft everyday stamps range and stamped it on to card and cut it out.  i used book print paper and the music script stamp from Oak House Studio to add more texture to the image but its detailed on its own.

Here is a mixed media card i made using these papers, mixed media isn't just limited to Layouts and Canvas art but i would love to do a few canvas wall hanging for my craft room when i get chance.

i just copyed the techniques i used on the layout on to a card. i first started by covering a card blank with pattered paper and using a stencil and texture paste on the background. I then tore a triangle out of the corner of a 6x6 sheet of paper and adhered it to the corner of the card with half a doily tucked underneath. i again used spritzing inks to create the ink drips and clustered and layered up the paper flowers.

I used the stamps from the curiosity corner range to create the lace effect layers and the butterfly stamp from the Dovecraft everyday stamps range. i love these stamps as they are photopolymer and create a nice clear image.

 I glued the petals together on the paper blossoms so that they stayed in position, it was one of those things i discovered by accident and will share once i have recreated the effect.
