Colourcraft Winter Wonderland Altered Birdhouse With Expand It

I am back up on the blog today with a very snowy altered birdhouse.

Glue the birdhouse together and then paint with gesso or cheap white acrylic paint. Unless you want  to stamp onto the surface it is easier to glue the item together and then paint it. It you paint the parts before gluing it together then the parts might not snap together correctly.

Mix white gesso with Turquoise Brusho Crystal Powder and paint over the birdhouse. Next use a crackle paint  over the top to get the cracks. I then used Pear Aztec Eco Metallic Luster as the final layer to give it an icy shimmer.

Take a palette knife and spread Expand it over the top generously . I then sprinkled on some glass glitter but anything fine and sparkly will work too. I then heated it with the heat gun and watched the snow form.

I then painted more Pearl Eco Metallic luster over the top.

The icicles are created by using a hot glue gun and squeezing the glue onto a non stick surface. It can then be peeled off and glued to the edge of the roof.

Making Cards Magazine Free Papers Cute Penguins

Hi all

I made up a few cards using the free papers from this months issue of Making Cards Magazine.

I used Waterfall Colour Chemistry inks to pint the background on and then stamped on some snowflakes with the Snow Way Stamp Set

I used the same ink again to paint the background and used a mask to add snowflakes. I then used DecoArt Twinkies to add sparkle to the snowflakes and penguin.

Steampunk Industrial Winter Layout Featuring Artful Days Goodie Box and Things to Alter

                                   Hi all

The December goodie box is a mix up of items from the last 11 goodie boxes so i have a layout to share which has a steampunk winter theme.

Here is how to create the background.

Start off by inking a rubber texture stamp with blue metallic paint not too much otherwise you will get a blob instead of an impression. Stamp this around the corners and then paint random parts of the stamp and stamp into the centre of the layout.

Add another paint colour to the next texture stamp and repeat until you get a mixture of patterns and colours around the middle of the page.

Next add a couple of stencils over the stamps. I used crackle paste and black modeling paste to get different textures. Once dry add random strips of washi tape.

I dry brushed a bit of blue over the crackle to show it up a bit more and then painted the embossed card with Turquoise metallic paint and dry brushed it with pale blue to show the design,

I started adding the layers by first matting the photo onto card and cutting it to fit. I saved the off cuts for the layers. I cut up the silver doily and steampunk papers and just played with the position before gluing it all down.

 I cut one of the mdf Geo shapes in half so i could glue it either side of the photo.

I painted up a few mdf snowflakes and cogs before adding glitter to a few.

I finished off the layout with buttons and sparkles from the goodie boxes.

Winter Wedding with Guilded Winter

We have started counting down to the Trimcraft Christmas 2015 product launch. For now i am going to be sharing a few of my favourite ranges from 2014.

The First Edition Gilded Winter collection does not have to be used on just Christmas cards but can be used for Winter Wedding cards.

Make this simple pin by taking a small dress makers pin and threading assorted beads into it. Place a blob of strong glue on the last bead to hold it together.

I like making shaker cards and finding interesting things to fill them with. I used the Fiskars small star leaver punch with sequins.

I choose to use layers on this card to add deph to it. I used chocolate glitter card to add a bit of sparkle to it.

I used the  First Edition doily die set and the new Willow die set to create this layered topper.
