Paint the tag with acrylic paint and when it dries, add stamps around the edges.

Cut out the images and add them to the tag.

Stamp out the sentiment and cut out the words. 

Ink these words in two different colours before adding to the card.

Start off by covering a postcard in acrylic paint. 

Next add stamps to the background and ink edges.

Stamp on the sentiment.

Stamp out a few tropical stamps,colour and cut out.

Cut out one of the beach babes and add her to the card.

Add the tropical embellishments to finish.

Artful Days August Kit Hello Sunshine Mixed Media Canvas

Hi all

I am back from my week holiday to Great Yarmouth which went way too fast but you know what they say when you are having fun. The weather was warm and sunny until the last day so its been a fab break and now i need to work off all that ice cream. Anyway I bought my first Artful Days Theme box last month but i have only just found time to sit down and make something with it. My Father in law was taken ill at the end of August so i have fell behind a bit but i have some of my October makes ready.

I made a mini canvas using the kit 

I first covered the canvas with gesso and let it dry before adding textures to it using stencils. I then painted it with DecoArt Crafters Acrylic and used texture stamps over the top.

I used the MDF sentiment as the focus for the canvas which i painted with dark blue paint first before adding weathered Wood Crackle Medium and then a layer of White crackle pain. Leave each layer to dry completely before adding the next layer. I finished off the letters using Patina Antiquating cream and glued sequins around the letters.

I added Sequins, gems and shells around the canvas. I love the little starfish cabs which glimmer in the light.

The kit comes with a lot of embellishments and papers so you have plenty to play with.

Trimcraft Scrapbook Workshop July: Paradise Crush Summer Holiday Layout

Hi all 

I am back with my Scrapbook Workshop for July. You can find the full tutorial over on the Trimcraft blog.

I wanted to create a  layout that reminded me of summer so i used the new First Edition Paradise Crush papers  to create this bright holiday layout.

this is the large shell from the First Edition Beach Die Set. They look great with pearls and flowers stuck to the centers.

This is a close up to show how you can layer the dies and paper flowers together to create unique combinations.

I drew around the Photo Frames so i can add patterned paper to them. They are great for coloring over with inks or just writing onto for journaling.

These are the new Alphabet stickers from our Simply Creative brand. They are very good quality and come in different textures such as chipboard. Foam and Glitter.

My favourite thing to do in the summer is to go down to the beach and search for little souvenirs. with each beach i visit i find something different.

 i used the Ahoy There stamps to create these little beach hut buttons from shrink plastic.

 In used papermania textured cardstock and inked it to give it a shaded effect.

i used the cut outs that were leftover from my Tim Holtz Vintage Market Alpha die to create a mirror effect in the title.

The Memory Nest June Challenge

 

Summer has finally arrived, but for how long i don't know. I'm playing along with the June Sketch challenge on The Memory Nest and have a few ideas for this sketch. http://thememorynest.blogspot.co.uk/p/challenges.html

 

 

 Gizmo is such a lazy cat, he will sleep all day and then wake you up at the crack of dawn for food. I've experimented with misting sprays and used Rose red and Turquoise and blended them together to get lots of other colours. make sure you dab the excess ink off or your page will bubble up.

 

i used lots of bright summer colours on this layout. the flags i cut by hand out of scraps of matching papers and the tags are from a fancy edged frame nesting die i cut in half. I took some recycled card and covered it in two coats of gesso before inking some bubble wrap with distress inks and stamping different colours on to it.

Creativity Magazine Competition Layout Take 2

 Have you ever made a layout for  competition and noticed a slight blip on your page? that's what happened to me and the more i looked at the more i noticed it. so i had to rewrite my journaling only i had ran out of the backing paper i used last time and because i was using recycled packaging every page is unique. At least i have a copy to keep in my album now.

 bubble wrap is one of those cheap yet effective ways of adding texture to your layouts and you can keep using it because you can swill it under the tap and save it for next time.

 i have started to experiment with gresso. i painted over some recycled card and stamped over it with the Urban stamps Postcard writing stamp.

My original layout with a blip in my hand writing. i know it's only small but it was bugging me!

The Memory Nest May Colour Challenge

The colour challenge at http://thememorynest.blogspot.co.uk/2013/05/may-color-challenge.html. For this months colour challenge i have chosen a fun and very bright layout of my day trip to Great Yarmouth. I had a fun but exhausting day beside the sunny seaside which was most likely our only day of summer if i know what British weather is like.

 I've been experimenting with mixed media on my layouts which i some cases has gone horribly wrong so i decided to keep it simple and used a Bobunny distressed textures stamp and painted it with acrylic paint instead of using ink. I then sprayed misting ink into the corner of the page and let it run down it.

 I've taken a shine to chipboard flourishes latterly i like to paint them or distress them with ink and sandpaper.

 I used American Crafts Amy Tangerine papers and The paper company Secret Garden Blossoms 12X12 paper in this project which a quickly becoming my favourites.

It wouldn't be a seaside layout without a bunting which i made using a joycrafts diecutter and scraps of Pebble inc and Papermania papers.
