Docrafts Trade Catalogue makes: Capsule Collection Geometric Neon Cards

Hi all

I am back to show off my makes for the Docrafts Trade Catalogue using the new Capsule Collection Geometric Neon range.

I used the card blanks with the mini card kit and i just cut up the mini cards and envelopes to make the toppers.

This is one of the mini cards and you can fit quiet a bit on them

These cards are simple enough to be made en mass for party invites if needed.

                                                           Thank you for looking

Mixed media layout Paradise using Docrafts products

Hi all

I have a new layout to share today and its my favorite so far. I have been experimenting with textures and will have a tutorial for you tomorrow.

This picture was taken on Weymouth Harbor and the man rowing the boat has been running this service for at least 25 years. I love this picture because it is so peaceful to look at.

I used a lot of layers on this one and all i did was cut up strips of Capsule collection Eau De Nil and Parisienne Blue. i added wooden flags and wrapped jute around the photo.

These cogs are easy to make, cut them out of kraft paper and cover the whole cog in glue stick.next pore your metallic embossing powder over it and apply heat. You can mix the powders with black or copper embossing powder to get a rusty or oily effect when you heat them.

here i have taken 3 white mulberry flowers and glued them together before spritzing them with ink and dabbing the edges with an ink pad once dry.

Thanks for visiting and pop over to my tutorial to learn how to make the background

The Memory Nest April Challenge Crystal's Sketch

The challenge for this week is to use the sketch below with one of the phases. I choose 'Enjoy the little things' as it fits in with the nature theme. if you would like to join us and have a chance to win some goodies then look no further www.thememorynest.blogspot.co.uk. Share your projects and the team will leave some comments on your blog too.

I used a combination of Dear Lizzy with Papermania Spots and Stripe Bright's papers and embellishments. I found the colours livened up the photo which was taken on an overcast day. I just love to use lots of different colours and I just happen to have accumulated a lot of this range  of papers.

I always try to group my page elements in groups of 3 or 5 as this is the most easy on the eye, something to do with the way our brain works means that certain patterns are more appealing then others. I am no brain scientist but if it looks pretty i'm sticking it on.
These little chip board buttons are great to use if you want to add one to the page with out it being to bulky,  if your die-cut letters don't show up to well, you can try carefully drawing around the letters with a fine pen or shade around them for a more artistic effect.

I created a petal boarder using the new Xcut A5 flower die-set, I folded them in the centre to make them stand out more. I found this helped the photo blend in a bit better.

I look forward to seeing all your creations.

The Crafting Cafe February Challenge

I am playing along with The Crafting Café challenge. this month you have to create a card that has an embossed element on it. you can play along here http://thecraftingcafe.blogspot.co.uk/.

I used the new digital papers from the Creativity Club for this project. you can get them from www.Docrafts.com if you are a Creativity Club member.

I used clear embossing powder to make the letters all shinny and bright. I love how heat embossing makes all the colours more vivid.

The memory nest January Color Challenge

my  first challenge of 2014 at http://thememorynest.blogspot.co.uk/p/make-it-monday.html. now that the madness of Christmas and new year is over I can get back to my blog and hopefully will be adding more creations over the next few weeks.

I choose the blue and green tones from the challenge as they work well with the tan background. I combined Dear Lizzy with Papermania and used a stencil mask and modelling paste to create the background.
the flowers I made using the new Xcut A5 flower die set and after cutting out the pieces I used a balling tool to rough up the petals.

this one is going in my holiday scrapbook which I am trying to get finished but there never seems to be enough time in the day.

Scrap Around the World July challenge; Special day

I'm playing along with the July challenge at http://scraparoundtheworld.blogspot.co.uk/ the challenge is open until the 25th. I was inspired by the soft colours, the romance theme and the mixed media from the sketch. I decided to create another layout form my heritage album and scraped about Nan and Granddad's wedding.

I used HOTP Roses in Harmony with Papermania Lincoln linen papers on this layout.

The title was created by cutting the letters out of a journaling card and inking around the letters.

I painted a chipboard frame with acrylic paint and then stamped around it in Tim Holtz antique linen ink and embossed it with a heat embossing tool.

Featured in SBM issue 70

i never thought that any of my layouts would make it into a scrapbook magazine and was very surprised to see my Exmouth layout printed in the your layouts section.  it just shows that you have to be brave and just go for it even if you think you have no chance of winning.

i used papermania capsule collection and basic grey. i dyed some old book pages with Brushido dye and used the sizzix shell set .
i typed the journaling out on a computer and i drew around the letters to create a boarder and cut them out.

Scrapbooking your cute pets

Misty is a rescue cat having been born under the bush in the garden. Mum had been feeding the stray cats and well we seemed to have collected them. Misty had decided he didn't like living outdoors anymore and had wondered off from his litter. our neighbour found him in their garden all soaking wet so we couldn't turn the little chap away. We called him misty because of his smokey grey fur. he actually likes posing for the camera. i will be adding more layouts of Misty posing soon.

i used Tim holtz tattered floral decorative strip to make the flowers. there is a tutorial video posted on this blog that will show you how to make them. let us know if its helpful so i can add more later.

let me introduce Gizmo who is the offspring of misty and just as daft. he likes to wear stuff like scarfs and a pet lead. yes he likes to go walkies, im sure he has some kind of identity crisis. i would just like to add that no cats were harmed during the making of this scrapbook album however some humans were harmed when we tried to take off his scarf.

What happens when you leave you kitten alone with your  scrapbooking stash? find out in mishaps, kittens and scrapbooking. This weekend for more layout ideas of cute kittens trashing stuff.
