Scrap Around the World July Challenge

                     Hi all

                           I am playing along with the Scrap Around the World July challenge.  After two years of deadlines and being kept busy with DT work i have finally organised myself and will dedicate some time to craft for myself. I started off by taking 12x12 white card stock and spritzing a pattern on using yellow mister and the mini square  stencil mask from That Craft Place . I then added another layer with texture paste and another stencil mask from 13arts.

I was inspired by the rich colours and did i mention that Turquoise is one of my favourite colours?

I used texture stamps from Kaisercraft and scrapberry's to add another layer of texture to the page.

I dyed white lace and flowers with misting inks to blend them in with the colour scheme. I used Pearl Turquoise, Pastel Berry and Pastel Lime Ayeeda misters.

I used a flower in the center which i made using plaster of Paris and a mold. The pin flare badges are from Jennifer Grace on Etsy.

I love the American Crafts Thickers and these cloth covered ones go well with the colours

Docrafts Team ATC Swap

Hi all

The Crafty Bucket list

I thought i would learn a bit more about everyone and start a new chain challenge. List 5 crafty things you have always wanted to try and go for it. Link back to me in the comments when you have completed one of the things on your list.
Here goes

1) add sewing to a project

Me and my sewing machine dont get on very well at the moment but i love the shabby chic look of adding sewing to cards and layouts.

2) spinner cards

My last attempt failed but i really want to try this

3) Mail art

I didn't know this existed so now i have to try it

4) Craft Videos

I have just started playing around with this medium but would like to make a video of one of my mixed media layouts.

5)  Matchbox Art

I have seen these all over Pinterest and wanted to try it out myself

An apple a day: 3d Apple card featured in Creativity Magazine issue 60

As seen in Creativity Magazine issue 60 here are a few shots of my 3d apple cards.

I loved making these and plan on doing a few for Halloween.

I used coordination card to cut the large part of the apple out and the free Fruity download for the centre.

These stick together like you are making an accordion book.

start by cutting out 12 heart shapes using the Xcut nesting die

fold in half and cut off the bottom but curve around it as you cut

Repeat by cutting out 12 smaller hearts and cutting off the bottoms. and stick in the centre.

i have inked the edges

now stick them together by gluing one side to the other like book pages

 it should look like this.

A bit more Neon

                                                                               Hi all

                     I am back with a shaker card i made using the Papermania Neon range which is a nice range for summer crafting.

I used the star nesting die to make the shaker box and used the small star palm punch to create the filling.

i used the birthday pop-up die set the create the sentiment and decorated the card with neon shimmer dome stickers.

My first card is using the Savannah Belle stamp by Kenny K. I love all things steampunk so had a lot of fun creating the distressed metal look by mixing black and bronze embossing powders together. If you mix black and silver you get an oily or burnt metal look. I have also used the DecoArt metallic luster and rubbed it over kraft card which gives it a metalic finish but is a bit quicker.

Next we are on to the Limited Runs stamps by Nikki C. I love the Halloween cupcakes so you will be seeing more of these.

That Craft Place Anything Goes July Challenge

                         Hello i am back with my entry for the mixed media July challenge over at That Craft Place. you can sign up here http://thatcraftplaceblog.blogspot.co.uk/

I have a mixed media scrapbook to share this time. The background i made by spritzing turquoise misters over the page and then i used the Tando Creative mini mask to add the texture.

This distressed anchor is easy to make, i took a chipboard anchor sold at That Craft Place and rubbed Silver DecoArt Metallic Lustre over and then rubbed a little Copper Kettle around the edges.

The large light house is part of a set sold by TCP and comes with a few seagulls and waves which i will use later. I simply painted light blue acrylic paint on the base and then painted a coat of DecoArt Crackle paste over it. I then used a texture stamp from Kaisercraft to add the pattern.

The netting is sold by the yard at TCP and is wide enough to be trimmed into smaller bits to use.

Trimcraft are giving away free papers and here are some project ideas

                                                                  Hi all
I am back with a few cards i made using the free papers off the Trimcraft site which you can download here http://www.trimcraft.co.uk/articles/free-trimcraft-printable-papers-and-cardmaking-tutorials

            I found that the free papers worked really well with the Tiny Tatty Ted boy range

                 
               I used the First Edition cog dies set and cut them out of blue textured card stock

I used the Balloon template of the Trimcraft site to make this 3d Birthday card

Another example of how Tiny Tatty ted works with the free papers

I wanted to try out this design i found on Pinterest. I used the 99p Birthday set stamps to make the Balloons.

Here are my projects for the Hop starting with a Gorjuss girl altered frame. Gorjuss is a modern take of Alice. i painted a cheap Poundland frame with DecoArt chalk finish paint and then rubbed Iced cappuccino metallic luster over the ornate bits. i finished the frame off with some paper flowers.

My next card is made using one of Rick St Dennis' digi stamps. i used the Stand on your head Cheshire Cat stamp and my coloured piece was used in the shop.

This Happy Unbirthday card was made using the free papers from the Trimcraft website. I used the vintage gentleman die set to create a stack of hats. You can get the free papers here http://www.trimcraft.co.uk/articles/free-trimcraft-printable-papers-and-cardmaking-tutorials

Bohemian cards and my first craft video

Hi all 

I am back with some new cards and my first video

Here a some photos of the cards i have made with the Bohemian range

spritz the card base first and use a baby wipe to blend the ink. Stamp a few butterflies all over the top half and then flick more ink over.

Stamp out image onto grid patterned paper so it is easier to cut out using the squares as a guide. instead of colouring image with pens just spritz with inks.

i like to rip doilies in half and crumple them up to add texture to a project

why not have the sentiment going vertical for a change.

This is an alternative to the above card, in fact it was part of my very first video which i messed up because i forgot to make sure my hands and project were in view of the camera.

This time i added more buttons and lace, i just love that cyan blue lace.

I love the resin flowers too

I coloured this in with water colour pencils and used a blending pen. Make sure you use pigment inks on stamped images you intend to colour to prevent the ink bleeding into you pens ect. you can heat emboss them as well which gives you a bit of a barrier and helps you colour a bit neater.
